a friend once said to me, "symmetry is
the sign of a weak mind." in spite of this,
i favor asymmetrical designs. (to quote
bette midler: "got it? get it? good.")
the nickel and the penny
are shown to indicate the
size of the individual
elements.
i like the dimensionality
this necklace showcases:
the roundness of the turquoise
with inlay; the barrel shapes
of the antique amber and coral beads,
and the large asymmetrical sloping chunk
of amber in the center. the larger elements
are punctuated by small round coral beads
and tiny indian brass cubes.
the metal toggle clasp
also has fine detailing.
note the coral and brass inlay in the
turquoise at right. the barrel shaped
antique amber bead below it features
turquoise and coral as well as brass.
another close up of the other
turquoise and amber elements.
the smooth, clear red coral
barrels and beads provide a
striking contrast to the
matrix and inlay
of the other elements.
